CHALLENGING TIMES
A rich and inspiring five-day
residential retreat
at the magnificent
Broughton Hall
in Yorkshire
with Malcolm Stern & Sarah Warwick
4th - 8th January 2027
Broughton Sanctuary, Yorkshire
The Invitation
In a troubled world that can feel uncertain and demanding, how do we remain hopeful, courageous and creatively alive?
Over five days together at Broughton Sanctuary, one of the UK’s most exceptional retreat settings, we will explore the wisdom, creativity and inner resources that can help us meet challenging times with greater clarity, courage and imagination.
Through deep enquiry, creative expression, song, sound healing, intuitive art, reflection, ritual and connection, we will make space for new possibilities to emerge. We will uncover what no longer serves us, reconnect with what matters most, and explore what can help guide us forward into a new year with hope and inspiration.
At the heart of the retreat is a shared enquiry into how we live more fully and truthfully in a changing world. We will explore what it means to live with greater integrity, how to access our creative resources, and how to cultivate the steadiness, openness and courage needed for the year ahead.
No previous experience is necessary. We aim to create a warm, respectful and welcoming space where everyone can take part in their own way.
Malcolm Stern will co-lead the retreat with Sarah Warwick, bringing his extraordinary depth of experience as a psychotherapist, author and group facilitator.
A renowned psychotherapist and author, Malcolm will work in his inimitable and deeply experienced way, offering daily group sessions drawing on psychodrama, Gestalt and his many years of therapeutic work.
His sessions invite honesty, compassion, insight and transformation, creating space to meet ourselves and one another more fully.
Sarah Warwick
Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and facilitator Sarah Warwick will bring her unique experience in music, healing and creativity.
Through song, sound healing, meditation, mantra, intuitive art, conscious writing and other creative practices, Sarah will help create an atmosphere of inspiration, connection and inner listening, supporting each participant to access their own wisdom and creative resources.
Beyond the retreat...
...you’ll take with you practical tools, fresh perspectives and a deeper connection to your own creative resources, all of which you can draw on as you move into the year ahead with greater clarity, a steadier heart, and the confidence and inspiration to live more fully.

Accommodation & Setting
You’ll stay in a stylishly furnished single room in one of Broughton’s beautiful estate cottages, with our own designated workshop space for the retreat.
The cottages offer comfortable, characterful accommodation within the wider Broughton estate, giving us the privacy and sense of community that work so well for a residential retreat.
Our chef-prepared plant-based meals will be served in Utopia, Broughton’s much-loved walled garden bistro. The standard of the food and presentation is something to behold, and sharing meals there will be a memorable part of the retreat experience.
There will be plenty of time to relax, explore and enjoy the extraordinary surroundings of the 3,000-acre Broughton estate, with its woodland, gardens, open countryside and peaceful places to wander.
We will also have use of Broughton’s state-of-the-art Avalon wellbeing centre and spa during our stay.
Treatments and massages may be booked directly with Broughton at an additional cost.
